Part 1 - T R E N D S
1. Monochrome
I thought it would be a cool idea to do 3 part series on trends, prints and hot pieces to watch out for in 2013.
After looking at numerous catwalk show, designer websites and last years fashion predictions, I have come up with 3 trends, 3 prints and 3 hot pieces that I think are going to be HUGE this year. Plus for each trend, print and hot piece I thought it would be a good idea to show how I would style them, e.g. "how to wear Monochrome..."
Its all about the black and the white baby. Toward the end of 2012, the monochrome trend slowly started to creep in. You really cannot go wrong with black and white though can ya? They are two statement colours that go with literally everything and when they are together, they are a magnificent combination. The beautiful thing about the monochrome trend is that it leaves so much room to play with lip and accessory colours.
Monochrome has been one of the main trends designers such as Marc Jacobs, have focused on for S/S13.
The trend also seems to be having an affect on high street shops. As Motel have started to adapt to the trend.
There are numerous ways in which you could style the monochrome trend and this is one way I would wear the trend "on a night out".
I really love this look. The lace detailing on the shirt is so on trend at the moment. I have been loving pleather skirts since last year, I feel that they go with virtually everything. The cute court shoes give the outfit an essence of class, as the heels are not too high and not too short. Finally I decided to go with a pink lip, this is because its a change from red, also because this outfit is so girly, I felt pink suited it best.
2. 90s is back
The 90s trend, is probably one of my favourite trends of all time. I absolutely love everything about it, its very me and I am so glad its coming back into fashion this year. If you're not familiar with the trend think about your favourite TV shows back in the day. Clueless, Beverly Hills 90210, Fresh Prince. Anyone remember Saved by the Bell? I swear I get so much style inspiration from Kelly Kapowski, its unreal.
To me the 90s trend is all about bold colours, colour clashing, pastels, crop tops, bomber jackets, off the shoulder garments, braces, collars, oversized sweatshirts, polo necks, dungarees' and high waisted everything. This trend is really about expresses and unleashing your inner 90s kid. Designers such as Ashish, Balmain, DSquared2, have taken this trend onboard, debuting their 90s collection on many S/S13 runways.
There are again numerous ways in which you could style the trend and this is one way I interpret the 90s trend in 2013
When I think of the 90s I think of dungarees'. I remember I used to love them as a child and the feeling has not changed. I know in this day & age people are afraid to rock items like this because they are so loud and in your face, however I really believe as the year goes on we are going to be seeing more people in dungarees. I paired this playsuit with a cropped black polo neck, this is because the dungarees is very loud and I felt this would be best way to tone it down. You cant really go wrong with trusty Dr Martens with knee high socks, they automatically give the outfit an edge. I kept the jewellery and accessories to a minimum. I actually have the exact rucksack and I can say it truly does go with everything. Finally, I decided to go with a nude lip, as it gives the outfit more of a "pazzzzaz".
3. Fluorescent
Forget your pastel colours, 2013 is all about fluorescent. I believe we will start to see this trend emerge around February and onward, I think it will literally be everywhere around the start of summer. At first I wasn't to sure on this trend, as I have always preferred to keep fluorescent items in my wardrobe to a minimum, with the odd beanies or t shirt. I would never have dreamt of wearing an outfit that was mainly fluorescent colours. However, I started to look further into the trend, research designers thoughts on the trend and I've changed my mind. Its a New Year, why not be bold with your fashion and wear what you want to wear and not let the thoughts of others hold you back from expressing yourself. Designers like Osman, Oscar de la Renta and House of Holland incorprated fluorescent into their S/S13 runway shows.
Topshop have also just released a fluorescent jumpers collection which are absolutely gorgeous and I have had my eyes on them ever since.
Even though this blog Is primarily for woman's fashion, I really enjoy reading about mens fashion and what direction they are going in for 2013. Many male designers have also taken on bored the fluorescent trend and I absolutely love it. The way the fluorescent has been incooprated into the outfits are amazing. This trend is definitely one to watch.

I adore the whole slouchy, yet chic thing this outfit has going on. As you can see, the main part of the outfit is fluorescent jumper and Cambridge satchel. I love this jumper with the turquoise necklace and rings, the colour combintation is gorgeous and goes well together. The pink Cambridge satchel is very out there and screams on trend. I decided to pair this outfit with a plain pair of black jeans and white converse as they do help tone the outfit down a little.
